We have begun a major project of digitizing the family files left to Root Seekers Genealogical Society by Les Reasonover after the death of his wife Marie. Marie Reasonover spent her life researching the history of Kaufman County with a special emphasis on families. We have just begun the work and have barely scratched the surface with over 4000 images.
These family records contain correspondence; genealogies; cemetery listings; vital records such birth, death, marriage; legal documents; copies of wills dating back to the mid 1600s; names and families of Kaufman residents who were citizens of the Republic of Texas and those who served in the military during the Civil War, as well as other military service records; pension records; probate records; family group sheets; obituaries; newspaper articles. The scanned documents are valuable for research not only for those who actually lived in Kaufman County, but who were related to those who did. As people migrated across the country to settle in Texas, they left evidences of their passing. Marie gathered this data on paper copies which we are not digitizing and presenting to any who want to research, not only the families, but the history of those families.
These records are indexed by the family name and allow searching through the vast files which will continue to grow as we scan and index the files.
