New Family File: Patsy Cooley has submitted three family files, the Blackburns, the Hogsetts, and the Porters. The first of these, the Porters we have posted in the RSGS Family Files. It covers the life of John C. Porter and his experiences during the Civil War. The daily detail, names of individuals, and places are excellent. The entire 48 pages are interesting for a historian and there is an excellent index of persons, places, regiments, companies, and dates. There is much more here than just dates and names. It is a personal account of a period in history and an excellent example of family history.
